My first six novels were traditionally published. When I got the rights back to those books and began writing new ones, we decided to "go Indie," meaning we would bypass traditional publishers and go straight to market with our novels. It's been a thrilling ride!
I've always wanted my books to be gritty, contemporary, sometimes dark, tension-filled thrillers—but with an underlying message of hope in God.
For more than 20 years, one scripture has stood out as the 'vision' for my books:
What I tell you in the darkness, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim on the housetops.
- Matthew 10:27 -
So, now you know the story and meaning behind the name of our publishing company: Rooftop Press.

I've read a library full of books in my life. Maybe 2. But Mr. Mapes, you are special and outstanding. I would even say there is an anointing on your writing. You are my all time favorite!

Mr. Mapes, I just finished book #3 in the Crittenden Files. What great stories! They were some of the best I've read and I do a lot of reading! I especially appreciated that they all pointed to God as the One we can trust and rely on. Tell me there are more stories about Jack and Pamela and all of the other characters coming soon!

Linda, thanks for your kind words! Next you need to start Signs of Life. That is my newest series with 5 books and I am working on 6. I may still go back and write more in The Crittendon Files series. Thanks again for reading and commenting!
